SYNOPSIS

Employment Act (EA) Lab Series comprises a series of half-day workshops designed to equip participants with knowledge on the changes to EA application through scenario-based learning.

At this interactive half-day workshop, participants will learn about and discuss the key changes to the EA (including the extension of core provisions to all Professionals, Managers & Executives; raising the salary threshold of Part IV of the EA for non-workmen; and enhancing dispute resolution services) which will take effect from 1 April 2019. Participants will have hands-on experience to work on scenarios from their workplaces.

To reap maximum benefit from the scenario-based learning, 
we would like to encourage you to ask any questions that you might have regarding the EA, or if you have a specific scenario that you would like to share and seek advice on, please provide us with the scenario details as well. This will help us ensure that you will get the information and advice you need in order to apply the EA provisions correctly at your workplace.

TRAINERS

Mr Choo Soo Teck, TAFEP

Mr Choo Soo Teck was with the Ministry for Manpower for more than 30 years.  As an Assistant Commissioner for Labour at the Labour Court for 12 years, he has extensive experience working with employers, advising them on good employment practices.  His fair and balanced approach has resolved many disputes between employers and workers amicably.  An experienced adjudicator, he is able to advise employers on the correct application of the employment laws.

Mr Choo Zhi Yong, TAFEP

Mr Choo Zhi Yong was with the Ministry for Manpower before joining TAFEP. He has experience in advisory and conciliatory services on employment matters relating to the Employment Act and has conducted customised Employment Act (EA) training workshops for companies. He is experienced in providing scenario-based advice to employers and HR practitioners.
