Standard Chartered Bank

However, managing diversity in the workplace is not without its challenges. Mr Jaspal Singh Bindra, Group Executive Director of Standard Chartered PLC and Chief Executive Officer, Asia, Standard Chartered Bank, noted, “As we operate in over 70 markets, this also means that there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution. Our markets are so diverse that we must use our local knowledge to help make programmes and initiatives successful and relevant to our local employees.”

An initiative that is seeing increasing momentum, among local offices is employee networks. To date, Standard Chartered has set up women’s networks, international networks and parents’ and careers’ networks across many markets. These networks provide employees with a vital source of social support, contacts, information and guidance on how to perform successfully within the workplace. They also support the Bank’s interests, by increasing members’ sense of involvement and engagement in the organisation and increasing retention of talented staff.
